Location Revealed for Mattel’s New Toy-Themed Waterpark
Exciting news is unfolding just minutes from Walt Disney World — and for me, this announcement feels especially meaningful.
According to reporting by the Orlando Sentinel, the mystery location of Mattel’s first Wonder Indoor Waterpark has been revealed. It’s coming to Vineland Road, just south of the Lake Buena Vista Factory Stores — only about 10 minutes from Disney.
What’s Being Built?
Conceptual plans recently filed show an 11‑acre development that will include:
• A 90,000‑square‑foot indoor water park with a retractable roof
• An outdoor water park and event lawn
• A dedicated “slide zone”
• 11,400 square feet of retail space
• Parking for 752 vehicles, including a structured garage
The building could reach up to 60 feet tall — more than enough space for something truly iconic… yes, even a life‑sized Barbie Dream House.
The development is a collaboration between Mattel and Orlando‑based Martin Aquatic, with design plans prepared by Kimley‑Horn.
A Completely New Kind of Water Park
This won’t be your typical indoor water park.
Mattel and Martin Aquatic are designing an experience that brings Mattel’s iconic brands to life through architecture, design, and immersive attractions — rather than relying on costumed characters.
Visitors can expect:
• Exclusive rides, including a water slide found only at a Mattel park
• Design inspiration from classic toys and games like Barbie, Hot Wheels, and UNO
• A bright, modern structure with natural light thanks to a retractable roof system by Canada‑based OpenAire
The Vineland Road location will be the first of five planned Mattel Wonder Indoor Waterparks, making Central Florida the launchpad for a global concept.

On a personal note, this project brings back incredibly special memories.
When I was a kid, my grandfather designed dolls for Louis Marx and Company at their factory in Glen Dale, West Virginia. He used to bring home the dolls he designed — and those moments sparked a lifelong appreciation for creativity, imagination, and the magic of toys.
To now see a toy giant like Mattel creating an immersive destination just minutes from where I live and work — and from where families come to make memories every single day — feels full circle.
