Get to know Bay Hill & Dr. Phillips

Dr. Phillips is a  bustling area of residences, business, restaurants and upscale shops is one of the most popular places to live in Orange County.

The community was named after Dr. Philip Phillips, a pioneer in the citrus industry who eventually sold the bulk of his property to Minute Maid in the 1950s. The property he owned in southwest Orange County was sold to developers who built Bay Hill subdivision as well as other neighboring communities.

This area has experienced an explosive growth in the last 30 years, due largely to the location of two key local industries: defense and tourism. Nonetheless, the Dr. Phillips area has been able to maintain its superb quality of life by timely upgrades of the infrastructure and controlling growth.

Many people move to the Dr. Phillips area due to the reputation of the public schools alone. The area also features a 43-acre, state-of-the-art County park located on Big Sand Lake. Due to its location on the eastern shore of the beloved Butler Chain of Lakes, many residents are also active in boating and water sports.

The Dr. Phillips area also boasts a great community center and numerous first-rate restaurants on Sand Lake Road, which has been affectionately dubbed “Restaurant Row.” Jane & Alan have a couple favorite restaurants to personally recommend

Close to the theme parks of Universal Orlando Resort, the affluent Doctor Phillips suburb is defined by its elegant estates and golf courses. Sand Lake Road is the main road and has luxury spas, fitness studios and shops. A stretch known as Restaurant Row offers a wide range of cuisines, including Hawaiian-Japanese fusion, traditional Turkish and upscale Italian. The nearby Mall at Millenia is the place to go for designer wares, furniture shopping and luxury car dealerships so you fit in to the lifestyle.

He works part-time in real estate sales, drives for Uber on weekdays, and waits tables on weekends to make ends meet.  Despite his side gigs, according to Homes.com and Zillow.com he’s sold a million homes since 2021—a number that’s quite impressive to Jane.  If you list your home to sell with him, it doesn’t matter what price you set it at—”he’ll sell it!” If you’re willing to tidy up while he is there, he’ll snap a few photos on his phone and list your home for the world to see the very next Day—no professional photography required.  He starts conversations with “Don’t worry about it,” “Yes, yes,” or “No problem,” always quick to agree with just about anything you say. He compliments your shoes, tells a few jokes but avoids questions on how he markets and how many homes he sold in your area. Though he’s a hard worker, his level of expertise and dedication to real estate doesn’t compare to a full-time all-in realtor.  His proposed commission structure is the same as hers.
